In the past I have wrote some things about Bill Gates that now seen egregious to me too. And at the same time learned what authors and journalists and activists need to always remember: are you speaking about the audience to the audience or are you expelling your personal misery or personal situation.
On a journey to become a sage or sapient you are probably going to get scarred because the goal is to become part of or intrinsic with the situation so that the deductions or solution will hopefully include as many aspects and perspectives as possible resulting in a best possible set of possible solutions.
As part of my journey for a time I was in Virginia and around Washington DC. Among the fantastic things I was involved in or privy to were meeting and hanging around a retired WWII vet, Navy Captain I think (he stopped his rank because he didn’t like politics at all), who worked in the Pentagon for many years after the war. And he told me that if the USA goes down it will be because companies make laws to rip off the US Treasury and taxpayers.
LOL, one of the reasons he was well known is the picture of him in his fighter mid air, standing up wiping the oil from his windshield which was the result of the fighter he just shot down having been right in front of him.
Then I was there when the Pentagon was having fiber optics installed, very interesting. But I was also there when the politicians “summoned” Bill Gates to Washington DC. What a hoot.
Why, hmm I think, it seemed he was an enigma to him!
Why? Well I suppose it was because the US Government had by then become somewhat of a monarchy and politicians had become a professional group steering the USA globally instead of being representatives of this or that group or geographical region.
Why Bill Gates? Well look at it like this.
- He proved that honest Capitalism works.
- He empowered millions of people.
- He proved that the more people you serve and help the more blessed your life can become.
Resulting that he became the richest or one of the richest people in the world by actually offering a product or service.
The government, as mostly people that never spent much time delivering products or services to serve others and make a living, didn’t know what to do about him but by their nature they felt they needed to reel him in.
Anyway, Bill Gates and his wife Melinda founded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with an Endowment of $50.7 billion (2017)
I am sorry for being so simplistic sometimes, being a sage barely cohabits with being indoctrinated. In the end the frustration shown in my writing a few years ago about philanthropists was why don’t or can’t they do more for our own society which is still swirling downward?
Amazingly maybe the Navy Captain was right in his warning and the political and “special”[sic] interests aspects of our society have become so repugnant that honest, caring duty driven philanthropists can get more done and achieve more for mankind per dollar overseas than here in our own country.
I hope that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation doesn’t forget to toot their own horn, the examples they set can easily empower millions of others toward mutual caring.
Especially now in 2018 when even the International Banks are considering it may be wise to look back at economics 101, if you hurt one you hurt us all if you help one you help us all.
