Two arms, two legs, two ears, two eyes etc. Why was skin color used as a barrier?

Looking from this perspective:

1. The battle against abuse of power and authority for financial gain.

2. The battle to allow people of a different skin color to be full citizens.

Both are huge battles for justice smeared with stupidity, ignorance and selfishness.

Considering that there were powerful and accomplished black people many years prior to Brown v Board of Education.

The most amazing part of the entire story is why it took so long to end segregation and bigotry.

But we did or are promoting as much as far as for number 2 above.

Now we must face number 1. above and end the same stupidity, ignorance and selfishness for the sake of all of our lives and futures.
