Hmmmmm…How about that.
As I was reading about the Grand Bargain bill signed by Governor Baker of Massachusetts which includes a $15 Per Hour Minimum Wage and Required Paid Leave by 2023.
I was reminded of two things.
1. Nick Hanauer and some PAC’s have been working hard on the minimum wage issue for quite some time and they deserve some credit for the changes that are being implemented.
Ha, a politician stole his thunder….kidding.And then I started crying because I remembered that Mass is where MIT is.
2. Being gifted sucks, but to be reminded what happened to Aaron Swartz and how for some reason MIT choose the whims of lawyers over truth because Aaron accidentally uncovered some devastating corruption scared me into realizing that MIT may have neglected its social responsibility to protect realistic brilliance if for no other reason than it is based on truth.
What’s wrong with truth?
So here are a couple of truths we would do well to remember.
A politician is in and out of office and seldom has the tools to do the follow through to make sure everybody plays fair and that society can move forward on the best possible path.
And, people like Nick Hanauer have both the vision and tools necessary to make sure that path is feasible for the long run.
But and here is the rub. It’s 2018, we have amazing technology, wealth and intellect but we are still being controlled or tricked into to doing nonsensical things like for instance having the full weight of the people of the United States press against one man because he exposed corruption.
WHO ARE WE REALLY AFRAID OF?
Now, before I go on, for the sake of this article let’s define ignorance: “Not knowing the truth yet.
“So, we are still in a common dilemma, maybe like when they told Jonas Salk “You cannot discover a polio vaccine, we won’t give you the money or permission to discover a polio vaccine” But he did, on his own.
How is it that a few Neanderthals can keep Julian Assange living in fear based only on revenge?
Were laws changed after the fact.
Come on folks, he is one man!
What is the real message we are sending?
Is it: “Don’t expose our corruption or incompetence or we will manipulate power and authority of our nations Justice system and hunt you down like a dog!?”
Are We Civilized Yet or do we want to stay ignorant?
Regarding a Living wage: As a person that has been involved in many types of businesses for the last 40 years, a living wage is a no brainer and people that are against it are, from my perspective…..ignorant, sadistic or just plain ole incompetent.
Since millions of people are effected. There must be objective input and information.
